GOOD NEWS ? 6th Jan 2007STATE GOVT REVERTS TO OLD REGIONAL PLAN PANJIM: The State Cabinet yesterday (Jan 5) decided to enforce the old Regional Plan 2001 and has also decided to refer the new regional Plan 2011 for expert scrutiny. Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane said that the old plan of 2001 was put before the Cabinet, which agreed to enforce it. "We will place the Regional Plan 2011 before the experts and town planners for their scrutiny," Rane said. When told that some Cabinet ministers had gone on record that they had not seen the controversial plan, Rane replied, "I cannot tell you off-hand whether the ministers have known about the plan. I will have to check the file." "I also cannot blame the ministers for the Regional Plan 2011 as they are not experts. Also, I do not think that forest areas have been marked as settlement zones in this plan. That is not possible," he said. [GT] GoaCom 6th Jan 2007
